DOWNER RESIDENCE - KITCHEN CONCEPT DESIGN
This little ex-government house in Downer was after some much needed love and attention. The kitchen had remained relatively untouched since it was built the 1960's, and was in a state of disrepair. The owners of this home wanted to open up the interior of the home by removing a central wall that divided the kitchen and dining areas. This allowed for the kitchen to be connected with the main living areas of the home, as well as gave the opportunity for a more functional and modern kitchen layout.
The desire was to bring the kitchen into the 21st century, whilst retaining a level of character and charm that suited the original house. This was achieved by keeping the material palette simple and clean, and using timber accents to add warmth.
